Supported Living

24-hour care services to help people with reduced ability to care for themselves, enabling people to continue living in their own homes.

Supported Living

For over thirty years, we have been helping people to enjoy greater independence and achieve personal goals by delivering quality solutions. We are one of the leaders in home care, providing specialised Supported Living services for people with learning disabilities, autism, physical and sensory impairments, and mental health issues. With our support, individuals can often continue to live in their own homes, whether as tenants alone or sharing with others.

Our aim is to maximise individual independence and ensure that the people we support enjoy a fulfilled life. Every day, people using our Supported Living services take another step towards living more independently by utilising the expertise of our staff to learn new skills and access community based groups, jobs and volunteering opportunities.

Our Supported Living services offer:

  • A friendly environment with structured activities.
  • Modern and purpose-built accommodations with 24-hour support.
  • Full support for individuals to maximise their independence and to play a full part in their local communities.
  • Experienced staff trained in learning disability, mental health and autism.
  • Trusted methods for successfully reducing challenging behaviour.
  • Proactive, positive and professional support.

A Flexible and Individualised Approach

We provide support within a highly individualised and professional planning process where every recipient is a full participant. By placing personal need at the centre of what we do, we give people the opportunity to use their own preferred methods of communication; to share what is important to them and to make their own choices. The development of each unique care plan is implemented in consultation with the client, family/carers and care managers. Every care plan is regularly monitored, evaluated, and reviewed in order to accommodate individual abilities, needs, preferences and aspirations as they change over time.

In order to build confidence and increase ability and self- sufficiency, we support clients who wish to participate in education and skills development programmes and to take part in wide ranging leisure and community activities.

Care and Support

Each client is allocated a key worker on admission, so that every individual can identify with a specific member of staff who will be responsible for working with them to address their particular care and support needs. The key worker will also work with the individual to develop daily living skills and community activities and will be responsible for taking the lead role in linking with Care Management, Health Professionals and the service user’s family.

Community integration

Our Supported Living programme enables and encourages service users to access community facilities as part of the process for developing their abilities and maximising their potential. We will ensure that our approach to working with individuals is empowering and is aimed at developing socialisation, community integration, and independent living skills.

Life Skills Development Centre

Our clients have access to a Life Skills Development Centre that offers support with daily living skills, including assertiveness and communication skills, budgeting and cooking. Community and recreational activities, such as voluntary work and trips to the cinema, theatre, museums etc., are also encouraged as social steps to independent living.

Preparation for Employment and Education

Accessing and supporting voluntary/paid work placements underpins our work to enable individuals to enter/re-enter employment. Literacy support, study skills and I.T. training are also available at our Life skills Development Centres to support people wishing to return to education or employment.

The aim is to provide all our clients with opportunities to become independent and skilled and to recognise their importance and contribution to the community by taking up paid or unpaid work.

Our employment and training programmes are one of the many initiatives we have developed in order to build self-esteem and develop professional skills. Employment or training opportunities are identified for individuals according to their abilities, skills, and interests.

The Employment/Training programmes cover the following areas:

  • Catering
  • Gardening
  • Administration (Office Management skills)
  • Sales
  • Domestic

We also prepare individuals for employment by providing:

  • Mock Interviews
  • Formal Interviews
  • Dress code skills
  • Appropriate Training
  • Our Staff

Our highly skilled, multi-disciplinary teams assess each individual's needs and establish a tailored programme of activities that allows them to develop their independent life skills; to move along their care pathway and meet their goals.

We have experienced and well-trained staff all, of which, are provided with a comprehensive training and development programme, including access to NVQ training. Our commitment to training incorporates NVQ level 4 for senior staff and managers and NVQ levels 2/3 for direct care staff. All members of staff are Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA) checked.
